Disney will continue to bring magic to the fans with their live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast coming in March 2017.

With a few classic-based live-action movies now up their sleeves, Disney has turned to Beauty and the Beast for their next film.

Many are excited for the movie for various reasons. Student Danielle Riggs of Colorado Mesa University says, “I’m excited to see how it will compare to the animated version.” Others who remember the original animated version when they were kids may share the same feelings. Danielle is also excited for the casting and costuming, both of which she says are, “A list and already leagues above Maleficent so that’s a good sign.”

From what the trailers have shown, the movie seems to be going in the direction of the live-action Cinderella movie from 2015; keeping with the same basic tale. Side-by-side comparisons of the original animated trailer and the new trailer are very similar and the music seems to be following very closely to the original as well. The costuming for the movie takes on the look of French clothing of the same time period the movie is set in. Belle’s iconic yellow-gold dress from the original animated move is shown in a new light, but doesn’t stray far from the classic. Even the animated furniture characters we love from the original are given a new look, but will hopefully live up to their names.

Disney first announced this new movie back in 2014 and casting announcements started to roll in in 2015. Many people are excited to see Emma Watson play Belle in the film. Other members of the cast include Luke Evans as Gaston, Dan Stevens as Beast, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, and Josh Gad as LeFou.

The release date is set for March 16, 2017. Fans can go see the movie at Regal Canyon View Stadium 14.
