Losing weight is a hard thing to do, especially when the thought of working out makes you uncomfortable. The gym can be an intimidating place, but you know what people say, you can’t lost weight without working out.
First thing is first, don’t let the stereotype of gym people get to your head. The gym really isn’t full of guys who only want your number and girls who only stare at themselves in the mirror. Everybody who took time out of their day to go to the gym is there to better themselves. They really don’t care what you’re doing, unless you’re using a machine they need. Even if you have no idea what you’re doing, walk in with confidence and just start doing something. Don’t focus on what the guy on the other side of the gym is doing, focus on what you’re doing and how much better you are making yourself.
Second, make a goal for yourself. According to CreditDonkey, 80 percent of people who join a gym quit within the first five months. It’s hard to stick with something if you don’t have an end goal. Whether the goal is losing a few pounds or gaining some muscle, it’s going to keep you motivated and that will help you get into the gym everyday. It’s also good to have somebody around that keeps you motivated. Cheat days are great, but cheat weeks are not. In order to see results, you must stick with your workout plan and not ditch the gym too many times.
Lastly, there are so many advantages to working out. Even on the days when you’re tired and feel as if you just can’t possibly go to the gym. Remember how good you are going to feel once you leave all sweaty and sore. Not only is working out going to help you lose weight and gain muscle, it’s also good for your bones. There are so many advantages to working out that will help you out in the long run. So, instead of taking the extra hour to sleep, get up and put on your tennis shoes. The hardest part about going to the gym is getting to the gym. Keep your motivation going and remind yourself why you started this journey in the first place.
Focus on yourself and always remember the progress you want to make. Everybody struggles with losing weight, so don’t put yourself down if you don’t know what you’re doing when you walk into the gym. If you have a question, don’t be afraid to ask the people around you and focus only on you. It might be hard now but it will be completely worth it in the end.
