An adolescent girl was believed to be living with monkeys in an Indian forest, reports on this story were originally based on speculation by police officials from the area. Recently officials with the wildlife sanctuary in the region stated it’s unlikely that the girl could’ve been living with monkeys and not been found for so long.
In an interview with the Washington Post, JP Singh, the district chief forestry officer said, “If she has been living in the forest for 8 to 9 years, she could not have survived. There are over one hundred leopards in the sanctuary, and she could not have escaped them.”
Officials at the hospital where the girl is being treated say it’s most likely that she was abandoned, reported missing, and found in the forest area in a short amount of time.
